Description
Pupils will be required to produce a portfolio of work over the two years from which three units will be submitted each consisting of sketches, studies, paintings etc.  Pupils will be expected to visit galleries/museums to help enrich their studies.
What will I Learn?

This course will give you knowledge, understanding and competency needed when considering entering employment in the Art & Design sector.   You will gain grounding in the essential skills and broad fundamentals crucial to this area of study.  The course provides the learner with opportunity to take the initial design idea forward to a completed professional product.

What are the Entry Requirements?
Entry requirements for this course are a strong interest in the subject.  Basic art skills are useful.
How will I be Assessed

All work is marked internally and then externally moderated by a visiting examiner.

Future Opportunities?

Following completion of the BTEC First Certificate in Art & Design successful candidates would be able to enter employment at a junior level in such areas as graphic design, interior design or web design.   Opportunities to go on to other art courses at College would be available - BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design or to enrol on another Level 2 programme such as relevant NVQ, Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in Art & Design specialising in your preferred area e.g. photography, textiles, fashion.
