What will I Learn?
You will use a range of traditional and contemporary techniques and processes including drawing, painting, collage, print-making, digital-imaging, and photography to produce a broad range of outcomes such as posters, CD covers, calendars, book covers, stamps, greeting cards, packaging and promotional material. ICT forms a significant element and you are taught to confidently use Apple i-mac, digital cameras, scanners and software such as Adobe Photoshop and In Design. An experimental approach is encouraged in every aspect of the course and you are taught to think and design in creative and imaginative ways to produce unusual and unpredictable solutions.
How will I be Assessed
Coursework accounts for 60% of the final GCSE mark and is presented in the form of sketchbooks which include research, sketches, ideas, experimentation, photographs and drawings using a variety of media. You will investigate the work of artists and designers and visit exhibitions at galleries and museums. The examination accounts for 40% and includes 4 weeks preparation which is developed into a final visual outcome.
What are the Costs?
There is a charge of £5.00 for a flip file to store students design sheets. Students should need no more than two throughout the course.
