What Will I Learn
The course is designed to: • introduce candidates to work related learning • provide candidates with an overview of the sector/field • give candidates the technical knowledge, skills and understanding associated with the subject at these levels • equip candidates with some of the skills they will need in the workplace or in further education or training • empower candidates to take charge of their own learning and development • provide a range of teaching, learning and assessment styles to motivate candidates to achieve the best they can Students will cover three units over the two years: ? Investigating Leisure & Tourism - helps students understand the important part that leisure and tourism plays in today's society. ? Marketing in Leisure & Tourism - students will investigate the marking activities of the leisure and tourism organisations. They will also investigate in detail the marking activities of one organisation and produce an item of promotional material for it. ? Customer Services in Leisure & Tourism - students will find out why customer services is so important in leisure and tourism. They will practise the skills and techniques needed for giving customer service.
How Will I Be Assessed
The course also involves a large number of visits, outside speakers and occasional college courses relating to the work in school. Assessment is designed to give credit for what candidates can do as well as what they know. It is based both on portfolio evidence and an external assessment, set and marked by the exam board.
